Illinois Adventure Part 2

Beat Kitchen. I was expecting you to be a little kitchen. With beats. Or  beets. And maybe some tacos. What I got instead was a really nice venue with an amazing sound engineer, great beer, and even better food.

Wilco showed up and we all hung out. Just kidding. They were playing down the street though, so we hung out in the sense that we were less than 3 miles away from each other.

We met some of the guys who organize Ian’s Party and are super pumped to be heading back early 2017 to play the fest. They introduced me to a band called Heart Shaped Hate, which is screamy and fun- and is causing me to rage-clean my house right now.

Mecha Shiva had a guitarist who broke a string. This led to an improv session while he was changing his string that included an impromptu tune that I’m going to title “Airplane food when babies cry”. It was a heart wrenching ballade about what happens when you bring babies on flights that are over three hours.

Our friend Matt kindly let us crash at his house, and we watched pro wrestling in the morning. I never thought I would like wrestling, and would never ever seek it out- however there was this asian wrestler with a name like Macklemorah (something like that)- who was an epic performer. I’m officially a fan.

Until next time, Chicago- peace, love and honey buckets.
