SO! It is week 3 of tour and we ( Daisy, Rachelle and I) are hanging out at a coffee shop in Charlotte. This is officially the part of tour where I start to forget where I am all the time, forget to write this blog, forget what day it is, forget where we are playing, not to mention just about everything that happened yesterday or the day before that. Really glad I keep a journal on tour or I think I'd seriously not remember most of what even happens on it and I definitely would not be able to do a recap on what the hell is even happening. Here is the week in review..
JACKSONVILLE: Our last Florida show was a blast. Played at an awesome bar called Shantytown Pub with Spew and a band called Fuck Salad. Best band name awards go to both of them. Best bartender award goes to Erik Reeder. The crowd was small but raucous and there were a lot of very violent piggy back rides going on. Got kinda crazy. I didn't join in on any of the tackles but I did elbow someone pretty hard because I'm hardcore like that. Afterwards we crashed with Daisy's old dear friend Zach and stayed up late watching Hedwig and eating delicious pizza.
SAVANNAH: Played a really cool art space/venue called Starlandia for a festival that integrated visual art, bands, and stand up comedy. This was really neat. I have never laughed so hard at a show. Bands and comedians went back to back, and visual art was done throughout the night. After the set, we were informed by our friend Joe (from one of the bands Joi Ryder) that there was a rad open mic night 2 doors down. We crashed that, which was a time as well. Daisy played in a drum cage. It was awesome. In the morning before we headed out, we were gifted 3 tickets to see a Nick Cave art exhibit. It was epic.
CHARLESTON:: Spent most of the day sleeping after eating southern food. I don't know how people eat it all the time because it knocked me out for like 4 hours. After my food coma ended, we played a solo show at a bar called The Tattoed Moose. Met a bunch of cool people, but I definitely missed not playing with other bands.
CHARLOTTE Pt 1: Played with our pals The Asound and Human Pippi Armstrong at a spot called The Station. This was a particularly special show because The Asound is comprised of members (Michael and Doug) of DAISY'S FIRST BAND EVER. EVER. Everyone had a great time catching up.
Speaking of catching up, we are playing another Charlotte show with our good friends Street Sects (toured with them in Texas last fall) tonight at The Milestone. Can't wait!!!! If you ever have a chance to see them live, and can take intensely foggy atmosphere's and horrifically stimulating shows (in a good way), you should.
