Writing this from a coffee shop right outside of Chicago. We have been back on the road for 2 days and it’s already feeling like we’re back in the swing of things. Sometimes it seems like when I’m home for too long (in this case, 2 weeks..haha) I go through existential “what is the meaning of it all” “what the fuck am I doing with my life” crisis’ and being back out on the road provides quick stabilizing answers to all that. Which is playing shows, writing and listening to music, meeting interesting people everywhere, and wandering. And also, the nice reminder that most of us really have no clue, and that’s just how it goes. At this point, I feel far more myself when I’m out on the road than I do at home. If anyone has any of the answers to these large questions, give me a shout the next time I’m in Cincinnati :)
Our shows in Lexington and Bloomington were both great times. In Lexington we played at Best Friends Bar with our pals Grlwood, Noncompliant, and Leaden Verse. Last night we played with Ghastly Indiana, and Evening Standards- both fantastic Bloomington bands, at a coffee shop that stayed open after hours called Hopscotch 2. AT and Martin, from Ghastly Indiana, took us out to a delicious taco truck down the street afterwards, and then we drove through the night and crashed at a gas station. Because it has been FAR too long since I have done that.
Today we are playing at DZ Records to do another live video recording with them— we did one a few years ago when we first started up and they offered to do another to help promote our new material..which is awesome of them. Tonight we’ll be playing a house show at Caliwaukee in Chicago. It’s a house show so DM us if you want to come and don’t know the address.
Hope fall is finding you all well. Sending good vibes-
