Writing from Kalamazoo Michigan to you all about the last few days. We played Chicago on Sunday night and holy crap it was a good time. We played a house show that was put on by our dear buds from the band So Pretty, and it was the most packed Sunday we’ve played. maybe ever? We played in a basement that seemed unreal for Chicago- as in- it was a large normal midwestern basement. It was kind of like going to Narnia- because we all walked into a regular Chicago sized building, went down a little staircase, and were thrown into a spacious, christmas light filled, clean, and SOUND SYSTEM EQUIPPED paradise. I don’t know how that basement exists in Chicago but it does, and I am grateful. We played the show with Chicago folk act Magnus Honey, Montana solo project Cairns (who we met in Montana a few months ago…small world..getting smaller), and Glitter Moneyyy (a femme positive, sex positive, body positive, powerful rap duo that put on one of the best shows we’ve seen in awhile).
Earlier in the day we hung out with our friend Ben who runs DZ Records and did some live video sessions. Those will be up sometime next week.
Yesterday we played a radio show during the day in Valparaiso called The Source. We did one of the most bizarre interviews we have ever done. Sometimes when we are sleep deprived we say really strange things…..anyway..we’ll see how that turns out haha.
We played at Quality Beet in Michigan City with folk act Mrey and poet Ming Washington. Both were incredible. Tim, the owner of Quality Beet and one of our buds, took care of us and made some of the best vegetarian sandwiches I’ve ever had. We hung out way after the show finished up hanging out in the shop, listening to music and catching up. And then he insisted on sending us back on the road with ginger banana smoothies. :-)
Today we play at Satellite Records in Kalamazoo.
