I’m writing this from a coffee shop in Murray Kentucky, not Tennessee, but wanted to do a recap on the last few days. Tennessee has been a blast this time around! We played at The Pilot Light in Knoxville with our buds Day and Age. Knoxville is in my top 10 of cities to walk around in late at night. The downtown is connected to the neighborhood the venue was in, and it just has good vibes. It’s good for a nice quiet walk with train stations, closed store fronts to look into, and a couple taller buildings with great lights.
The show was such a good time, and we ended the night hanging with our friend Royal staying up late and just catching up on everything. He has the cutest dog in Tennessee, Willow, and there are pictures below.
Nashville was pretty epic. The guys in the band Dad Hats are old friends of Daisy, and they definitely promoted the heck out of the show. It was our first time playing Springwater and it exceeded all expectations of dive bar grandeur, with a great sound guy (Nick), kind bar staff and an addictive pinball machine. I’ve been getting kinda into pinball lately. I never really noticed pinball machines before the last few months, but I have a friend in Oregon who talked my ear off one day about how awesome the game is, and I’ve given it a go ever since. Man, I am terrible at pinball. I’m looking forward to the day that I get a little bit better so that my fifty cent games go on longer than 3 minutes. If anyone has any advice, hit me up. I was told last night that if you put all of your body weight and tilt the game slightly that it can make it so that the ball doesn’t go into the gutter. I tried it with no success, but will get back to you on it. Who knows, maybe I’ll quit music and go into the OTHER incredibly lucrative career of being a pinball playing wizard. Worked for Tommy.
Today we are playing at Terrapin Station in Murray Kentucky. I’ve posted about Murray a few times before- but it has a gem of a music scene.
I’m going to leave you with a recipe for a protein filled cheap Kroger breakfast treat that I invented called The Almost Delightful Bean Breakfast Bar
Take a Wasa Cracker
spread some vegetarian refried beans on it
spread some canned jalapeños ontop
finish with hot sauce
enjoy and attempt to take a good picture of your bean breakfast. Refried beans are possibly the most un-photogenic food on the planet. Good luck!
