Good times at Brew-etarian

Stuart is a small town in southern FL with seemingly very little in it- but there is a lot going on under the surface. It’s one of those weird awesome towns that has entire stores devoted to Lamps (more lamps I’ve ever seen in my entire life actually), and there are diners there that seem to have been there since the beginning of time (or at least the 1950’s).

Our show was at a bar/vegetarian cafe called Brew-etarian. Billy Graham, one of the owners of the bar, is also a musician in a band called The Prescription- and from all of his time touring-has made it a goal to make his bar one of the best for bands to play at. He hooked us up with delicious local brews, a spot to sleep in the restaurant (crossing that off my bucket list now), and some of the most delicious vegetarian bar-food I’ve ever had in my life. Oh and a really really great show as well.

The bands that played (Loose Tight, Chronoslingers, and The Prescription) were all heavy rocking bands and were comprised of really chill and genuinely nice people. After the show we all stayed up late, enjoyed the Florida weather, and some late snacks of after hour vegetarian burgers..Restaurants are officially my new favorite places to sleep.

All the love to Billy, Autumn, the bands that played, and the folks who came out and hung till hella late who made this evening memorable as heck.

Best vegetarian burger award goes to Brew-etarian for sure. Watch out world.

ALL THE LAMPS. Closed :( :( ;( But seriously, I wanted to check out this store. It was 4 shop windows long and all of the lamps were calling out my name .." Kate! You need a lamp!! Take mee home!" I'm clearly sleep deprived.

Alabamaaa, Pho, and the beginning of our Floridian Adventures

So at this point basically all we do is drive, sleep at rest stops, hang out in parks all day, and then play shows at night. I'll just post pics of nature rather than trying to describe how pretty everything is down south. Here is a recap of the last couple days =) =) =) =) =) =) =) =)

Dothan, Alabama:: Played at a spot that ended up being at a huge warehouse storage space (turned music DIY venue) at the bottom of a winding dirt road. The spot is called The Plughouse and is a liberal safe haven for people who don't quite fit the mold of conservative Alabama. It was clear that The Plughouse is a staple in Dothan's art community. We played with a bunch of heavy rock bands. One that I really dug was Celestial Spawn- a two piece death metal band out of Columbus Georgia.

Tallahassee::Haiku

We played a house show

Then sat on couches outside

The weather was warm

****also ate Pho. We love Pho.

Special Interest played a helluva show.

St. Petersburg::

Played tunes with Geri X and Jeremy Trevino at The Bends in impossibly hip downtown St. Petersburg. The bar was crazy because it felt like it was more of a club, but apparently they host a ton of heavy metal nights. Huge thanks to one of the owners, Victoria, for hooking us up with the gig.

***ate more Pho. Florida's Vietnamese food is on point.

****also, I did something really stupid that night...I FORGOT MY CELLO AT THE VENUE!!!!! We got about an hour and a half out of St. Pete when we got a phone call from Victoria informing us of my mistake. Who does that!? Who forgets a cello at a venue? I guess I do. I'm really happy that Rachelle and Daisy didn't kill me that night, and that we got it back and that all was well. I think I need to cover my cello in glow in the dark tape or put a beeper on it or something. Never again!

Cape Coral::

Played at Nice Guys Pizza in Rachelle's hometown. Holy hell this was a great night. Our friend Marc Davis set up a super rad show with Constellation, Plural Being, and Lee Breshnyda. The bar was packed with super friendly locals and vacationers. (is Vacationers a word?) Anyway. We had a blast hanging with everyone and got a complimentary truffle pizza from the owners Jimmy and Greg. Also check out this fantastically honest drink menu. All the love to South Florida and to everyone who came out to the show!

*did not eat Pho. Sadly.

An honest menu at Nice Guys Pizza. I seriously love this.
